How can they forbid
a woman to ever feel sunlight on their face ?

how can they let the husband rape her any time he feels like it ?

and why don't woman of the West get better informed about these facts ?

If I were them, I would get a new religion to believe in. No one said those people had to believe in Muslim laws. If your forced to believe that, then tell them you would rathar be dead because to believe in that is the most uncivilized and ridiculous ways I have ever heard.

I am disgusted with the way women are treated under Islamic law and Islamic custom. There are horrible things...not only the daily prejudices of having to cover up extensively even in 120 degree heat...but in the Honor Killings, the stonings, the rapes, the beatings, etc. It's outrageous.

This is one of the reasons the Iraq War is so disturbing. The Shiites are now in control, a fundamentalist Islamic group. Saddam was a dictator and a brute, but he did allow women to work and attend college. His sons, however, were terrors and had no compassion at all.

Now, under Shiite rule, there will never be democracy in Iraq.. If the Sunni had won the elections, their way of life is a bit more modern. The Sunni were the doctors, the lawyers, the teachers, etc. Most of these more educated Iraqi have left the country.

When an Iraqi woman is imprisoned in Abu Ghraib, or any other Iraqi military prison, when she is released, she often disappears. A humanitarian agency tried to track down some of these women after their release, and they believe that many of them have been killed by their husbands. Remember, in these countries, it is dishonorable for a woman to even be gazed upon by strange men.

Yes, some of the older women are so ingrained in these practices that they wear the veil and stay out of the public eye even when they are liberated. But the younger women are a different breed and would accept modern ways. These customs are not really quoted in the Koran, I understand, so they are not essentially a part of the more modern Muslim beliefs. But in the rigid fundamentalist faiths, they still give the father and older brothers the right to kill female family members to uphold the pride of the family, and a man raping his wife would be considered no more than what a wife deserves. It's barbaric!

When women get to be equal with men in business, law and gov't, they refuse to allow that same equality into family and reproductive law. EX: In contested custody cases, men "win" only 10%-15% of the time, not 50% as equality would demand. The feminist answer (related to biology) is that women nurture better; yet we see in public safety (fire, police, military) that womens' weaker upper body strength is compensated for through law, EVEN when these women may be in a position to rescue someone's child and fail to do so because of their lack of strength. In reproductive law, only women have choice as to when they will be a parent once conception happens. Again, feminists point to biology, as in "only women get pregnant", still failing to see the above example that law can override biology. So, to answer the question, these muslims know women far better than Western men do. "Giver her an inch, she'll take your kid, your house, your car, your dog, and your job" As a pre-Clinton Liberal, I would have advocated differently for women's Lib had I known what I know now. Muslims are just a little bit smarter than Westerners. Why give Equality to those who refuse to recognize equality?

I do understand your passion but these issues are a lot more complicated than just Muslim men beating their wives like that crap article you quoted is claiming.

Being a muslim i've know that there are alot of things that confuse people! But I have studied it well so I understand it. Well most of it.

Firstly, a womens vote only counts only as 1/2 of a mans cos its more likely for woman to forget easily. So she needs another to remind her. Being a woman myself I understand it cos I usually do forget things. Usually I remember after being reminded.

Secondly, about a woman not being to be able to feel the sunlight on her face. Well thats not true 100%. Cos U have a choice in doing so!

Thirdly, about being raped its not true at all! Women have just the same rights as a man. The only thing that sets them apart is just a very small thing. And thats the guy having the last say in the matter within the house. Thats the only difference!

Women have the same rights in everything they have the same rights as a man. A very big issue in alot of families at the moment is marriage of a girl in the family. Alot of families tell a girl that she must get married with no right to say so. Its not true she has a choice in the matter just like the men do.

Thirdly, the issue of getting more informed. Well the books are readily available everywhere even in libraries. Its just a matter of getting them. In the east they use books. The best book to buy is the English Quran. It tells you everything you need to know. But in order to find out into depth you need to get a book that lets you know more in depth information. For example, Womens rights in Islam.

As for the article. Its not true. There is no solid proof of it. Ok I believe it does happen in this world but in Islamic law it states that a man is not allowed to beat your mum, sister, wife, daughter and any other women.

Read up about it! The internet has the information in it. You just need to find it!
