1. The speed of a free-falling body is directly proportional to the time elapsed. After 3 seconds, the speed is 29.4 m/sec. Find the speed after 7 seconds

2. A local publishing company has a reserved fund of P2,000,000.00. After several increases in the price of gasoline and some increase in the wages of workers, the company learns that it is losing money at the rate of P25,000.00 a week.
a. How much money would be left in the reserved fund after 4 weeks? 10 weeks?
b. I f F represents the reserved fund and t represents the weeks, write an equation stating the company's financial condition after t weeks.
c. From the equation in (c), calculate the number of weeks left before the reserved fund is drained.

using S as speed and T for time in seconds

S prop to T
S= KT K is a constant that turns the proportionality to equality.

Now solve to find K:
29.4=K*3 K=29.4/3 K=9.8 m/sec^2 does K look familiar?
knowing K we can solve the equation for 7 sec:
S=KT S= 9.8 T S=9.8*7 S= 68.6 m/sec

Part 2

25000 P/week is the rate (r) of loss per week so times 4 to get 4 weeks loss and times by 10 for 10 weeks.
P 100,000 & P 250,000 respectively. Then money left in fund = 2,000,000 - amount lost

PART B

Loss (L) is directly propportional to t
L= r t where r is the rate of loss per week
Remaining fund ballance = initial amount - Loss so

ballance of fund after t weeks = F - r t
using the given numbers we get:

Ballance= 2,000,000 - 25,000 t

Part C

when will the fund be completly drained means ballance =0 so plug in 0 and solve for t to get:

ballance of fund = F - rt
0= 2,000,000 - 25000t
25000t=2000000
t= 2000000/25000 = 80 weeks

These are simple calculations

1.The speed of fall after 3 seconds is 29.4 m/sec.
Therefore the speed of fall per second is 9.8 m/sec(29.4/3)
Consequently speed after 7 seconds would be 68.6 m/sec.(9.8x7)

2.a At the rate of loss(P25000 per week) the losses would
be as fo llows
After 4 weeks P1,00,000 leaving a bal. of P 1,90,0000

After 10 weeks it would accummulate to P,2,50,000
leaving a balace of P1,75,000

b F/t x 25,00 Equation of loss.

c F/t x25000 = 8 weeks

Blessings,my child.

Could it be because these are so simple calculations that nobody bothered to respond. But think of the questioning child to whom these would have appeared unsolvable riddles.
