The US has an extradition treaty with Mexico. If you have broken a US law and flee to Mexico, you can be returned to the US for prosecution. If the crime is murder with a possible death sentence, Mexico will not return you (they don't have the death sentence in Mexico) UNLESS the US prosecutors agree not to ask for the death penalty. (Same situation as in Canada.) If the prosecutors agree to not seek the death penalty (in writing), you WILL be returned to the US. I have personally seen this happen in San Miguel de Allende, with a US citizen of Mexican descent. He killed his wife in San Jose, CA, fled to San Miguel, was recognized by a US citizen there after reading a newspaper account. The local consul contacted the US gov't and FBI, the guy was arrested and extradited to the US. I know of other cases where Americans and Canadians were extradited to the US as well.
For lesser crimes, it depends on the crime and the tenacity of the cops and prosecutors. But don't assume you are "safe" just because you have crossed the border. Contrary to what some smart a**es here have written, Mexico does have laws and they are enforced.
And while you are awaiting extradition, you will be in a Mexican prison, NOT a scenario likely to help you sleep well at night.

Mexico in the same sentence. They will be waiting for you at
the border. and if caught. You can be extradited back. I have
beem to Mexico. You do not want to be put into "their" jails.
Down there, you have no American "rights."
From what I have seen any one from Mexico that commits a serious crime is returned over to us for prosecution.

if they commit a crime over there, or are caught by mexican police, they will get extradited over here. UNLESS, he faces the death penalty, because mexico is against that.

There ARE no "laws" down there...
Just payoffs...(and they're not very "concerning...")
That's why they're trying so hard to get up here...
Where the "payoffs" aren't so obvious...(and they at least "pretend" to be concerned...)

us cant touch them - we cant cross the border and the mexican police dont care - they wont transport them - ive never heard of it but they may if it is something very serious but i doubt it -
