I agree with the first answerer, safe is a relative thing and not knowing your background and life experiences I wouldn't know whether to tell you Bon Voyage or maybe you should go with a group.

Are you an independent traveler?
Have you been to a third world country? There are so many questions I could ask........

Safe is a relative term.

It's substantially safer than putting your hand in the disposal and turning on the switch.
