No, report that store to the health department.

You can sell some products beyond there use date; for a discount if you inform the customers. But, normally you can't sell expired products. The product has a limited shelf life and eating expired products can make you sick or even poison you.

When I was a manager in a grocery store I had to rotate the products. Some frozen goods I could keep for a while, but most of the dairy products had a limited shelf life and I had to remove and throw out the expired products. To this day I check the dates on products when I buy them to make sure they haven't expired and that I can get more life out of them.

Depending on what food is expired the little store down the street is committing a huge health code violation.

It's not illegal to sell expired items, that's probably why he sells it so cheap. It's always buyer beware. However, Gatorade and chips are not poisonous upon expiration. You've never been there but you want to report him, I don't understand that statement. Oh well :-/

No, it is not illegal at all. That is a common practice. If someone gets sick, the store is liable, but it is NOT illegal to sell expired things.
