I am going to Las Vegas in October. It will be my very first time going there and it will be a girls' trip. We will all be 24 and older and I want to know if there's anything I ABSOUTELY have to make sure we do while we're there. I also need to know if there is anything to be sure NOT to do (like wasting time at silly events that aren't worth it, etc.) or any places I should definitely not stay while I'm there. Let me know if you can and thanks in advance.

P.S. I am a city girl so I won't be in a culture shock or anything, I just want to know about the "can't-miss" stuff.

Others have pointed out a few things and places to see.
I would add (and clarify); try to book tickets for Cirque du soleil and a musical theatre (try Caesar's or the flamingo). Be sure to visit (for several hours each ) The Venetian, Mirage (The tigers may still be there but not in the show), and Bellagio, and like everyone else, the Pirate Show at Treasure Island. If its not too late in October, MGM Theme Park should be open.
Hopefully you'll be there more than 3 days and if so plan a bus trip (or drive) to Boulder Dam. Historically it's worth the trip.
It's a very long walk from one end of the strip to the other, so if you plan to Casino-hop rent a car and drive;all the strip hotels have free Valet Parking.

Bellagio fountain show, Treasure Island pirate show (get there at least a half hour early), see the new Wynn, the clubs in NYNY are pretty good.

Dont go to old Vegas... its not all the great...

If you dont have that much time (only 3 days or so) try and just see all the casino/hotels between Wynn and NYNY. If longer you can go to Palms Riviera Stratosphere etc.

For cheap drinks casino royal has $1 margaritas and beers.
I also suggest a variety show... You get alot for your money. I went to V the Ultimate variety show a few months ago. Its in Vegas and we got tickets buy 1 get one free at the Coke store next to MGM. People seem to love the M&M store next to MGM too.
Have fun

Besides gambling away all your money? Treasure Island puts on an awesome pirate show. And Ceasars Palace is awesome, Once an hour ( I think that's how often) the statues start to move, very cool. Most of the bigger hotel/casinos have awesome massages to help you relax, they aren't very expensive either. Look around a find a good show to see. I saw Sigfried and Roy at one of their shows. It was great! Definitely see a show!

Great weather and party time.
You will love it.
Go to Planet Hollywood and the Hard Rock at your age. The Palms is also worth the trip for you. You may also rock at the Rio.

I haven't been to Las Vegas, but I hear they have fantastic shows. Try to get tickets for Circus Soleil. I hear that show is incredible.
