Not as a rule. Maybe once or twice. But, you end up with hangnails.

When I had lower teeth, yes.
Since I got a lower denture, no.
The dentures are not as sharp as my real teeth were (but I only had 6 good teeth on the bottom)... Plus, when I try to bite my nails, since the lower denture is not as sharp, the pressure of the bite makes my denture come unglued from my gums... complete with a loud "suctioning" sound.
SO, thanks to my lower denture, I grow beatuiful long nails now, that I trim back with fingernail clippers. ;-)
