I found a volunteer rose bush on my property and the flowers were very delicate and a dark pink. They smelled very strongly of lemon and I need to know what they were because my Dad's mother killed the bush. Please help!!

Zephrine ( she's beautiful!) is a Bourbon , & and such has the Old-Rose, perfume fragrance . Never smelled any citrus , & I've seen a lot of them ,(planted them for several people, sold others ) in various locations , at all times of day & night.

Might be a David Austin variety. Many of his roses have a citrus scent .Some of the larger shrubs can be used as climbers. Look at the website .

Zephirine Drouhin smells like raspberries to me but maybe citrusy too. This rose is thornless, was yours?
