Actually that stat is for first marriages. For second and subsequent marriages the rate keeps getting higher, to around 90% for third marriages. So what do you do? Make sure you get it right the first time.
Take your time to get it right. Know that it IS what you want, with the person you want. Take the time to really know your partner - what do they like, what do they think, what are their priorities, who are they?
Make a COMMITMENT - a DECISION made with BOTH the head and the heart. Be willing to work through the bad times, and there will always be some.
Work on it. Its a living thing, and needs to be fed, with love, attention, devotion, faithfulness, trust, and cooperation. It takes TWO willing partners. You cannot run a three legged race, with one person unwilling.
If something is not right - talk about it. Maybe the other doesn't understand what is going wrong. Maybe you haven't made yourself clear. Maybe your the one who has to make concessions.

I really don't know. yes you got a 50% in divorce in a marriage. I know that each marriage the rate gets less and less. So if you married and it doesn't work out so you marry again. That married would be less then 50. And then if that marriage didn't work out. It gets worse and worse.

if you marry before age 25 the rate is 67%
in general first time marriage is around 50%, people who have been divorced and get remarried have a 65% chance of divorce and the number goes up every time they get remarried after a divorce.
