18 years
and i see no point in getting married
there is no benefit to it
it will not be anymore secure
no paper will hold me or her to me for life
it you intentions and more importantly your actions that count
if we ever decide to have children we can do that
no need for any sort of paperwork
if we split up i have to pay child support anyway
i just don't need a alimony payment
this way she realizes she cannot rely on me for the income so she cannot make the weak argument of accustomed lifestyle
she earns her money
it in her separate account
we go places
travel
have cars
just like a married couple
without any of the legal and binding contract that is a marriage

Six months.

I was ready, and I told him that if he wasn't, he could hit the road. We've been married over 21 years now.

It's a waste of your life to wait longer than 2 years.
