Someone that steps in when the rest of the world steps out. That is to put it simply. A true friend is always there when you need them and when you don't need them, they are still there but not bugging you. You can call on them anytime, night or day and they don't get mad. They will tell you how it is and not hurt your feelings. They will do things for you that sometimes family members won't do. They are rare and when you find one, you should do everything you can do to be a true friend to them.
