omg i am 16 and my family is moving to alaska from chicago

like lol i know this sounds stupid but is there any shop[ping malls there?

Fairbanks metro area is has a population of about 83,000 people. So its not a little Alaskan town, Fairbanks is a very important city in Alaska and the most important city in the Alaskan interior. Its a hub of some sorts of Alaska and the second largest city in Alaska after Anchorage which has a population of 339,286.
So you will have places to shop and stuff, and you could always take a short flight or a few hour drive down to Anchorage and have a decent sized city to hang around in.
But be ready for some very cold winters and just about no sunlight in the winter months and amazing northern lights and no darkness in the summer. Alaska is an amazing place.

yes there are malls. and they do have national chain stores there too. unlike the twit that said there are "like 30 people" there are many people there. And since fairbanks is next to a military base, you will have a variety of people there just like any other town in the "lower 48"
since you are from chicago, you are used to the cold. my only suggestion would be learn to love bug spray! Im born and raised Alaskan, and have spent many years in Fairbanks and Nenana area, the bugs will drive you insane in the summers. other than that, hope you enjoy my home state, there is so much to do there and see.

Hahah you will live, Fairbanks is pretty big and theres quite a bit of shopping there. I'm 16 too and I've lived in Alaska my whole life. My town doesn't have any shopping at all, but Fairbanks will have it..

Alaska has some great web pages.
I watched some shows on history and travel channels and did lots of reasearch as a follow up.
there's plenty of shoppig in fairbanks where will you live.
