Senator Dodd referenced Bill O'Reilly's statement from 2005 to the effective of it being OK with O'Reilly if Al Qaeda wanted to attack San Francisco. O'Reilly denied it and accused Senator Dodd of reading his transcripts on Media Matters. Warning, the transcript that follows includes some profanity on O'Reilly's part. Here's how it went down:

DODD: Talking about Al Qaeda attacking San Francisco, blowing up San Francisco. That’s not offensive?

O'REILLY: When did I say that, senator?

DODD: You said it in 2005, I think is correct.

O'REILLY: What forum? When?

DODD: Right here I believe on your show.

O'REILLY: You are wrong. I didn't say it here. You don't know what the hell I said with all due respect. You got it from Media Matters. You didn't hear it and you don't know.

Since Mr. O'Reilly specifically mentions Media Matters, I think it's worth while to see what the Fox News transcripts Media Matters says Bill O'Reilly said on November 8, 2005 on The Radio Factor with Bill O'Reilly:

O'REILLY: Hey, you know, if you want to ban military recruiting, fine, but I'm not going to give you another nickel of federal money. You know, if I'm the president of the United States, I walk right into Union Square, I set up my little presidential podium, and I say, "Listen, citizens of San Francisco, if you vote against military recruiting, you're not going to get another nickel in federal funds. Fine. You want to be your own country? Go right ahead."

And if Al Qaeda comes in here and blows you up, we're not going to do anything about it. We're going to say, look, every other place in America is off limits to you, except San Francisco. You want to blow up the Coit Tower? Go ahead.

O'Reilly ALWAYS lies.

His target audience is too stupid and deluded to know truth from fiction.

He became precise, if insensitive. 19 Muslims - no longer Jews, Christians, Buddhists, Wiccans, or Rastafarians 19 Muslims - no longer individuals of the CIA, FBI, KGB, percentmilitary, or Mossad 19 Muslims - no longer Republicans, Democrats, Libertarians, Greenies, or Socialists.. O'Reilly has on no account suggested the Imam might desire to be prevented from development there. in basic terms that he shouldn't build there - out of a feeling of decency for the community. Behar and Goldberg are 9/11 truthers - their objection became no longer that he suggested Muslims did it - yet that he did no longer say "extremists" - that's incredibly style of stupid, when you consider that they think the only terrorists existed in the Bush administration. As to the author who reported "no longer this style of Muslims we've around here" - possibly in the event that they made up better than one million% of the full inhabitants, they had be slightly extra overt of their ideals/practices, and so on.. it is not a query of if the US Muslim inhabitants radicalizes.. in basic terms a query of whilst. whilst they see they have the government and the inhabitants on the run and afraid, THEN they're going to radicalize and positioned extra tension on us to offer in to their ideals, their way of existence. no longer ON MY WATCH!

Dodd is a dailykos monkey, seriously...Bill spanked that twit all over the studio. Dodd hung himself with his own words. Only people who ignore the truth, like dailykos propagandist would be blind to the lies of this worthless congress man.

to the liberal Oreilly and truth haters..... I can't express enough the sadness I have for you all. To live in a world you were brain washed for. truly, many of you are beyond help. I don't expect not a one to awaken by anything I say. only know we want you back into the real reality.

"You know, if I'm the president of the United States,......."

This is a hypothetical situation set up by O'Reilly to emphasize his position concerning San Fransisco's banning of recruiters.

If you find his dialog offensive, then you will agree with Sen. Dodd - if it sounds like a reasonable response to San Fransisco's anti-military policies, then you won't.

I don't find his position offensive, but I suspect most liberals do.

And, for what it's worth:

"Media Matters for America"
"Nonprofit PROGRESSIVE research and information center dedicated to comprehensively monitoring, analyzing, and CORRECTING conservative misinformation in the U.S. media."

Read it again. He did not advocate Al Qaeda attacking San Francisco. He merely emphasized the important role the US military plays in my country's defense, reminded Ms. Pelosi what happens without the military.

I saw the original show. Media Matters is lying. Note that they are a Far Left propaganda outfit, similar to the old Pravada of the Soviet Union. The point O'Reilly was making (and everyone but Far Left fanatics got) was that San Francisco seems to not want to support our country in fighting terrorists, but they do expect the rest of the country to protect them. Anyone who would consider Media Matters as a reliable source for info is not looking for "real" info, of course. Asking them about Bill O'Reilly is sort of like asking Ann Coulter about Hillary. Both are fanatics on the fringe and are therefore in effect the same.
