If you can't beat em, join em. If the particular sci-fi movies that he is watching aren't your cup of tea, discuss with him what he likes about it. You may learn to enjoy them yourself. Take the NBC TV show Heroes, for example, that's sci-fi, and many people like it. So much in fact, that it's a number one rated show. So you have to figure that there must be something to sci-fi TV. If you can't find a tv show on sci-fi channel that you like, find a show or movie on another channel that you like.

And why can't you tune out Sci-Fi?? My boyfriend likes to watch CSI and other crime shows. I don't like those at all, but I'm happy to let him watch his shows because I love him and life is too short to fight over little things. When he's watching something I don't like, I just get on the computer and do what I'm doing now.

I feel your pain. I, too, am unfortunately related to someone who has the Sci-fi channel on 24/7 & it makes me want to scream & pull THEIR hair out!!! Maybe buy a tv just for yourself or beg him to share the tv with you! Good luck!!~~

My husband wants to watch sports and cops all of the time. He puts the surround sound on and I have to leave the room, because it is so hard to for me to tune that out. Unless you can get your husband interested in watching something like golf, sports is not that much better. Good Luck!! :-)

Just love him and his Dorky ways! At least he is home with you and not running around. Maybe read a book or work a crossword puzzle while sitting next to him.

Get another TV, or maybe some nice lingerie would help. : )
But seriously, have you told him how you feel? If he is reasonable, he will not mind letting you have the remote once in a while.

You could pick up another t.v. either for him or you you can get one for under $150 dollars that are good .that way both of you can watch what you want .He does seem to want to compromise if he always controls the remote.
