It depends on your router. If your router is functioning as the dhcp server for your inside network then it has to be the default gateway. Now there could be a reason why your seeing the modem not the router, but that would only be if the modem is also a router and the router is set up to only be a switch. Most modems are not routers and will never show as the default gateway. when connected directly to a modem the default gateway would be the ISP's router not the modem. If for some reason the modem is indeed a router and your connecting a second router to it as a switch for say a wireless access point, then you should look at the modems configuration to find the routers assigned IP address. Once you know the routers IP that's the address you need to point at to get to the routers configuration screens.

I just installed a security camera system and trying to have the camera's displayed on my monitor. I was told that all I need to do is put in my IP address in the search bar... that I need internet explorer. Then a window should pull up to give username, password etc... but nothing????
Right now it shows Firefox as well???
please help!

you should call up 2-wire and ask for the router config page or you can find your router on the internet/website and download the manual which has the router default

Most routers default gateway is 192.168.1.1, 192.168.1.2, or 192.168.1.0
don't use http in front of it, just use the IP address numbers by themselves

you should try http://192.168.1.1 or try http://192.168.2.1 bouth could be posible to no for shure click start, run, and type command then ok, in the black box type in ipconfig and press enter, under defult gateway thats is the ipaddress you will use to get into the router just type it into the address bar and you should be able to get in
