Under Federal law, there is no limit on hours once you reach age 16. http://www.dol.gov/dol/topic/youthlabor/agerequirements.htm

Each state has its own laws, which vary, so you'll have to find that out based on what state you live in.

Here is some info I found for Texas: http://www.twc.state.tx.us/ui/lablaw/cllsum.html

It sounds like, as far as the age goes, it's the same as the federal stuff. There are certain hazardous jobs you are not alllowed to work at all until you are18, but as far as the limit on hours worked, that seems to only apply to those under 16.

Federal law restricts the number of hours for children under the age of 16.

State Laws vary. Check your State Labor Board.

(Do a search on child labor laws).

Add a comment with your state. Also, make sure the employer complies with overtime pay rules for your state.

doesn't look like there's any rules for 16 year olds and how long they can work. most rules are for 14 and 15 year olds.
