I think both conservatives, liberals and even "free thinkers" run from the truth, whenever it is convenient for their interests. That's the game of politics, in a nutshell. Everybody presents their own version of "the truth" and try to brainwash the general public into thinking there is no other "rational" possible way to view and do things.
I don't remember any politician ever saying something like: "Sorry/I apologize, I was wrong, THE TRUTH WAS COMPLETELY DIFFERENT from my views on whatever subject, I didn't mean to do any harm".
No. They just run from the truth, they just present a bunch of "logical explanations" to justify whatever things they are doing wrongly.
So the answer is yes, a liberal does run from the truth, just the same as a conservative, a "free thinker", an "independent" or whoever involved in politics, which by definition is the art of misleading others in order to achieve your own personal goals in government.

"Report....a fake study conducted by our station showed evidence that liberals run from truth like vampires run from sunlight. Well, it depends on what is 'truth'.. I consider these issues to be truths:
-- Invasion of Iraq was based on lies (WMDs, Al Qaeda)
-- Libby lied under oath
-- Bush administration has violated Constitutional law (wiretaps, torture, 'unitary executive' signing statements, etc.
-- Overwhelming scientific evidence indicates that global climate change is real and that humans are a factor
I wear sunglasses... now you tell me who runs from those issues like vampires from sunlight?
