My old swim coach told me training your lungs like holding your breath, was good to strengthen your lungs. It could be useful later in life.

I think it is a good exercise to do everyday.
When you age, your lungs start to lose elasticity.
Practicing to hold your breath (breathing with lungs and not abdomen) will keep that from happening.
I don`t think you should over do it because your brain needs oxygen and you may end up killing some much needed brain cells.

IMO learning to breath properly is better exercise.

When I meditate, my respiration is about 3-4 breaths per minute for 30 minutes. This is fine, with practise.

It is amazing how bad we humans are at breathing. A simply process.

I don't see why. It's not like you can save it for use later on.
