Nope.
Ideally, the handbag would match something in your outfit, but it doesn't have to. Look at all the style mags - very few handbags match anything!
The shoes should match the outfit, and the belt, but since bags aren't 'attached', they obviously are outside the rules.

No. It does not. In fact, if you've picked up a fashion mag in the last 5 years or so, you will see that they almost never do. One should be neutral...like tan, black, brown, gray...and the other can be anything that coordinates with the outfit.
Buy yourself a copy of In-Style Magazine. They do a lot on accessories and it will be a way for you to see what's going on out there.
Matching bag and shoes?? NO WAY!!

For me no. But everyone is different. Rich people can afford to buy one to match the shoes. A bag should match everything. Or if you just like the bag, then why should it matter?

according to the TLC show What not to wear, no they don't have to match. i too only buy black or brown. goes with everything. though have recently added red and tan to the repretoire.

Wouldn't you rather buy ONE bag that matches all your outfits (a netreul tan, brown, black ,or white) or lots of bags (one for each outfit????)

well yeh its like written in every where u must match bags wit shoes...but if u wear short kinda dress its necessary i guess...coz shoes focus much then...but with high length dress like long skirt,sari..whatever u could match wit dress...n black is only color u could match wit any dress...
