My gauge works fine with I turn the key, but once I run the motor it goes down to E. I am not sure if I have done something wrong. I did put in a new sender

it is a brand new unit, and it works fine before engine is running.

Take the wire off the sender an turn the key on then touch only touch the wire to the tank if the gauge goes to full than the sender is bad.Make sure the tank is grounded???

at the sender a pink wire should be to the center and a simple ground to the outer edge. at the gauge you need a ground, sender, and a switched hot/ignition wire. make sure the gauge is wired correctly. if you still have a problem, change the gauge.

Is the boat out of water when you check this ? if so it will not be correct because the boat will not be level. you have to put it in the water - not moving -to get an accurate reading.And put some gas in it.
