I vote for the bear simply because he's got more tools at his disposal than the gorilla.

The gorilla would have sense enough to run sh!tless if a polar bear was headed his way.
In the clinch, the bear would kill the gorilla in a minute or two. The gorilla is a gentle herbivore and does not have the teeth, the claws, or the inclination for a fight to the death.
The polar bear is a carnivore and has a jaw and teeth designed for ripping the throat out of its prey. The gorilla wouldn't stand a chance, and it would know it.

These animals will never get in contact with each other. It really depends on the environment they are in. If its on the polar bears turf and theres nothing but a huge plain of snow the silverback gorilla would be slowed down by the cold and would be forced to meet the bear in frontal combat, in which the bear would obviously win. If it was on the silverback's turf with a forest with trees and etc, the silverback would have more mobility than the bear so the bear might get stuck between trees and might get trapped into an ambush as the gorilla recovers on top of a tree while reinforcements from his pack comes along. But honestly.... if a polar bear was fighting a gorilla... the bear would have to be fighting the whole pack of gorillas.

gorilla, because I like them more. A gorilla is actually a very gentle creature, and rarely fights unless another silverback is threatening him.

Tough call....the bear has the claws and the teeth...but the gorilla has the hands to grab, and the brains to run...I think they would avoid each other, though.

I think it depends on where the fight is. Each is formidable in his own territory.
I think, all things being equal, the gorilla would have the edge, he's smarter.
