If it's a lake or river, I would say wait. The water tends to be dirty and full of bacteria. No matter how well the sight is covered, the water will get through the bandages. Call your Dr. and see what they say. Your Dr. should have a # where you can get a hold of them after hours and on weekends. Try that. A pool maybe, it's pretty clean with all the chemicals; a river or lake, I would say no. You don't want to end up in the hospital with an infection if you weren't supposed to go. Good Luck!

The reason a pool is okay is because the levels of chlorine will kill any bacteria that may get into the water. On the other hand lakes, oceans and rivers are breeding grounds for all types of microscopic organisms, some that can cause serious infections in fresh wounds. You may want to call your Dr. to be sure. If it were me, I'd wait until the scabs fell off just to be on the safe side.

Good luck!
