My opinion will be the same as every other sane person's.

No bad pets.

However I can support this to the end. Because my father managed low income housing when I was really little. Many of the people who lived there had been displaced from the vietnam war, because of the appartment's location in the town.

Many of the people who lived there were not yet accustomed to city life, even though it had been many years since the war. Needless to say if you had lived your whole life in the jungle, your soci-economic standards would be completely diffrent.

Some of his tenants kept chickens for consumption purposes. They were given free range of the house. But chickens mean bugs. And all sorts of chicken filth, such as poop. So sadly no the chicken is not a good pet.

Also you may consider that birds do carry many diseases and illnesses such as the asian flu.

If you want a cool pet you should check out the sugar glider. Seriously one of my little sisters friends has one. Way cool.

In the city of Los Angeles it's not rare to find people with chickens as pets; however, most of them have homes. I had a friend who kept a chicken as a pet, but it was couped on a rooftop. An apartment is definately not practical for a chicken. Also, chickens are noisy especially in the morning. Your neighbors better be prepared, no need for any fancy- schmancy alarm clocks from Sharper Image. LOL!

WARNING: Graphic Details, Do Not Read if you are squeemish...

No, definately not! The law does not allow you to have chickens in apartments.

They are dirty, diseased, and very noisy animals.

Tenants from third world countries have been prosecuted for drilling small holes in bathtubs, then stringing wire across the tub, and strangling chickens there, so their blood drains through the tub drain. Then, they cook the chicken.

Apartment Managers don't talk about this to other tenants, but approximately 300,000 cases are prosecuted each year.

There is a Residential Mutual Trust Association which shares the names of individuals who have been convicted of such crimes.

When Apartment Managers do a background check on potential tenants, names are cross-referenced with the RMTA's database, and many potential residents are turned down - even if they have already served their sentence for this crime.

I think chickes would make great pets and if I did live in an apartment I would love to keep it a secret because I am sure you are not allowed to have one in an apartment. If you have ever seen the movie return to oz which is my favorite movie the chicken in there is named balina and that would be the name of my chicken.

Yes they do. I had a Rhode Island Red Hen as a pet when I was younger. I played with her all the time. Her name was "Sissy".

Apartment pets? No they can't be potty trained. And they would need a large cage.

Some chickens like to be around humans alot. However..... they are not very sanitary as pets. I wouldn't recommend it. You would need a cage and litter for the floor of the cage to absorb their wet elimations. They only poop do not urinate.

Actually, yes they can be if you get them from a chick. Even better than that are ducks and geese. They imprint on humans well, and about the house training, you can get diapers for them.

It's a little harness you put over them and just place a little diaper padding in the back and you replace it every 8 hours or so I think it said, and you're good to go.
