I have a degree in business plus 3 professional designations in financial services and I am a liberal.

Here is some of the economic logic I apply:

Blowing things all to hell in Iraq does not make the world a better place for anyone except those who own stock options in Halliburton, such as Dick Cheney.

A couple buildings getting knocked down on 9/11 does not explain why the S&P 500 closed Friday at a price it reached before Bush took office 6.5 years ago. Bush's powerful bias toward diverting wealth to the already wealthy is a much better explanation.

Huge tax cuts for the rich does not stimulate the economy. It merely diverts resources away from things that could benefit working class and middle class people to things that benefit only the wealthy. So rather than spending money on a new ambulance the money becomes a limousine. Rather than building a public swimming pool that thousands could enjoy, a private pool is built for a few people. Rather than building more hospitals, we build more luxury hotels. Rather than providing medical services to those who are sick, those services are used for a facelift for the aging wife of some CEO.

When a government allows oil company executives to make national energy policy, the policy becomes making oil company executives rich.

Most politicians have never taken even a basic course in economics. Most liberals fail to acknowledge (or worse, simply have never learned) that EVERY major tax cut has resulted in increased tax revenue for the government due to the macroeconomic impacts of these tax cuts. They bemoan the fact that "the poor" did not receive tax cuts. Of course, "the poor" are not required to pay any taxes in the first place, which liberals seem either not to realize or they are trying to trick us into believing the injustice of those awful tax cuts!

Furthermore, most liberals have never taken a course in comparative economic systems and have never extensively researched how various industries fare with different levels of government control and/or intervention from one country to the next. If they had, they might realize how ill-informed many of their proposals seem to those who actually understand the implications of the silly proposals.

Many liberals, and politicians in general, do not have any idea how government actually works (from an operational standpoint) and how grossly inefficient various functions operate in the public sector versus the private sector. Government agencies do not use our dollars efficiently. A large percentage of our tax dollars are consumed by waste, cost overruns, incompetent management, low-performers and even worse, non-performers who cannot be fired due to union contracts, etc. Private companies must efficient users of the dollars they receive from their customers. If they are not, they will go out of business.

I don't believe they are blind to economic logic, it is merely an "inconvenient truth" that they choose to ignore as it negates the allure of so many of their proposals and reveals the idiocy of the propaganda the use against those who value free markets and the personal liberty that ensues.

Its not blind to ECONOMIC logic, its blind to Conservative logic, sic; You are too ignorant to realize that the impoverished American people, legal or undocumented, have certain rights as PEOPLE! All the masses, whether born into America or assimilated by the horrid US governments ideology of taking over EVERY culture and not caring for their own 'hometown' mess, deserve the right to live life regardless of caring for their own well being.
We must continue to extend all available resources to these poor people in order to make their life more enjoyable as a whole.
To hell with all the people (U.S. vets, do-it-timeservers, GWB's attack on the World Trade Center, fools paying their own health insurance, or anyone trying their best to EARN a living).
If you agree with this your an @sshole. Thank you & good night.

You mean liberals like Robert Rubin, former chairman of Goldman Sachs who was Clinton's Treasury Secretary and steered this country from deficits to surpluses?

You mean Democratic Governor Jon Corzine of New Jersey, also a former Goldman Sachs chair with an MBA from the University of Chicago, the business school with the most nobel laureates in the field of economics?

Do you mean me, with an MBA, MPP, and years of regulatory analysis experience for a Fortune 100 company?

Can't imagine why your question was removed.

I find it ironic that liberals bash businesses, who are in business for profit, for stealing from them. But they are willing to give up nearly all the money they make to taxes by the government. (by the way, money the businesses payed them) What's up with that picture? What difference does it make which one takes the money? At least one of them gives you a little in return for your work. Do they really think the bureaucrats can make it better? Any history showing this? Nope.

Because "W" shipped their job overseas, diluted their insurance coverage and can't spell or comprehend Universal Healthcare, oh yes this was followed by a mass outbreak of Glaucoma after he required passports to go to a neighboring country where the cure is widely grown :) How 's that?

Do you mean that the policy of borrow and spend that the Bush administration follows is "economic logic"?

They care more about taking care of lazy ghetto people through higher taxes and wealth redistribution, than creating a strong economy. Most liberals are socialists, though they won't admit it.

why do conservatives listen to Rush and think they have a master's in economics afterward?

I've heard so many twisted, inaccurate economic theories from Republicans who think they know economics on here it's hilarious...
