I would have returned it.

You only took your family out because you felt guilty about keeping the money, so it is irrelevant whether or not it makes us feel better. You say you saw the guy looking for something, but again, it was because you felt guilty. Then you justify this by pre-judging him, and assume he would have spent it on that list of things. How is it that those two papers were together, but no wallet or anything, because you think maybe he took some money out of his wallet, and that just happened to fall out? Listen to yourself. You feel guilty about it and now you want us to tell you that what you did was right? It may have not even belonged to the person you thot was looking for something......you should have ask him if he lost something, and ask him if he was looking for a twenty, or what it was he was looking for.....Then let him tell u what it was. Chances are that it may have not even belonged to him. There is no way that you could have given the money back unless u saw him drop it. Anyone could have dropped it... and if you had no idea who dropped it, there was no way to find out, but in this case you would have nothing to feel guilty about, since you kept the money, so ask yourself if you did the right thing.
And I think you made that up about the sex toys to justify keeping the money...........Can you honestly expect us to tell you whether or not what u did was wrong....only you can answer that.

i feel kinda guilty cus i found a 10 dollar bill laying on the floor in walmart. and i kept it. but theres really nothing i can do, i mean, its not like i can walk up to people and say "did you lose 10 dollars?" cus they automatically say yes.
Why did i get a thumbs down? Honestly finding the real owner is near impossible. There was no one in that area so i could have asked every single person in the store if they've lost money then they'd probably say yes to try to get it anyway even if it wasn't theres. and because it was near the bench by the checkout close to the exit I'm guessing whoever dropped it already left.
And, why turn it into the cops? no one would call the cops asking if any body turned in an amount as low as 10 dollars.
The way i see it this is sort of like karma because i had 10 dollars stolen from my gym bag last year and now i got it back.

In that situation, no,I would have kept the money too. There was one time I found $80 screwed up in a little wad at a bus stop... I guess it fell out of someones pocket, and had I of seen them drop it, I would have picked it up and handed it back to them... but I didn't, so it went into my pocket. There have also been two occasions when I found purses, with money and peoples details in them, and I contacted the people and gave them back.

The right thing is to return it, or at least ask the guy what he was looking for. If I found it, then saw someone looking for it, I would have at least said something.

I would have asked the guy looking for something what he was looking for. If he said $100.00, I would know he was the owner of the missing money and give it to him. It's his business to do what he wants with his money. Ever heard of what comes around goes around?

Think about this. What if that guy wasn't really looking for that money. Suppose he dropped his keys or something...What if you had offered to return it to him and it wasn't really his. Of course if you had asked him if he lost $100 he would say yes. Who wouldn't?
Keep it and don't feel guilty. Finders Keepers.

Well it's pretty hard to return lost money. Ever stand up in front of a bunch of people and say "Hey, did anybody lose $100 bill?"

Yes of course you should have. I would feel guilty forever if I took something that was not mine.Think about it this way: What if the situation were reversed? Would you want your money back? (Although the list is a little embarassing!)

You should never benefit from the misfortune of others. If you find money, you should return it to its owner if possible. If not, then you should donate it to charity.
