I was raise in astrict famliy and was told icouldn't date until i was 18. now it seems difficult to spark up a conversation with the oppsite sex

Just ask questions to break the ice and the conversation will usually just flow, and remember just relax, and probably know that they would like to have the conversation!

Well since you are a female it might be a little more easier. Just learn how to flirt more. Smiling always drives me crazy. But if you just are looking to start convos then I would say try to find something in common.
