I have its amazing! Because everyone there is so relaxed. There arent uptight people there. Some drugs are legal there you can buy them there and as long as you only have a certain amount on you, you can walk around the streets with them. They also rate some of the drugs like 1 being week and 10 being strong. Just a lot of partying going on. Really fun enviroment if your young. I had a blast cant wait till I go back again.

Well, regardless of what visiting " expert " chica claims, drugs are not legal.
For 'softdrugs' there is a non-enforcement policy, but in case of trouble, you could be charged with drug posession.
Anyways - Amsterdam is a pretty cool city.
It`s got something for just about everyone.
Museums, old or special buildings, nice pubs and with good wheather, the outside life is relaxed.
There are summer activities and festivals, parties and concerts.
You can take a boat trip on a canal, or you can cycle through the city.
There are parks, and there are busy squares.
There are restaurants from all corners of the world. (Pubs too btw)
Amsterdam has a lot of nice people, but also some "less-than-nice" ones.
For the international tourist, you`ll find that many people speak pretty decent english, and a lot of other languages as well.
We don`t mind you smoking some weed, but keep to the 'coffee shops' to do it.
And, like Willeke, i`m getting fed up with all these gun carrying americans that think they know what is legal and what is not.

Amsterdam is a charming town, big enough to have that international 'great town' feeling, but small enough that you can walk it.
Most of the buildings in the center of town are actually houses, most no more than 5 stories high, and even in the shopping streets people actually live in them.
There are many canals through the city, lined with trees.
Amsterdam has more museums per square kilometer/mile than any place in the world, many galleries for buying art, many of which cater to the hip and trendy people.
In that town which is basically relaxed, are many small pubs (here called cafe), most are at a corner and in some parts of town each crossing seems to have a cafe.
Some parts of town have more, and those are better known for nightlife.
Amsterdam never had a strict closing time, which made for many places where the most hip of the time wanted to go.
So it did attract many good DJs and bands and so on.
Besides that is the drug scene and prostitution more openly seen than in other towns, but no more than in other Dutch towns.
And while you see more soft drugs, hard drugs like cocaine and crack are completely forbidden and acted against.
But while it is more visible than in other towns in the world, there is not more drug use and prostitution. There are less people addicted to hard drugs.
