I notoiced if one walks down the street with a stick from the woods (no matter how big or ackward) the police may look but do not bother. But as soon as a person carries a baseball bat that person is stopped by every cop?

Why is it ok to carry a stick but not a baseball bat?

Thanks, just curious

A baseball bat is MADE for hitting things and is not an ordinary item. A stick from the woods is more than likely not weight balanced, or easily grippable, and if it was very big it would probably be too heavy to be used as a weapon, and they're easy to come by.

Where do you live that people need to carry baseball bats to go on a walk? EGAD. Might want to consider moving to a safer neighborhood.

I've seen kids walking with bats before. I assume they are going to the field to play baseball. Likewise, I assume most policeman seeing an adult carrying a bat while walking down the street assumes they are up to no good. Can likely do a lot more property/personal damage with a bat than you can with a stick. If they are stopping people to question them, great. That means they are doing their job.

I would strongly doubt that. How would kids get to ball parks to play if that were true? On the other hand, I could easily see bats prohibited in neighborhoods where there is street violence, especially during night hours or at times when crowds would gather. I could also see bats prohibited in certain areas, like concert venues or on the route of a parade or other civic event where baseball was not a factor.

Bat can be used as a weapon, and has been in a lot of murder cases. If you carry a bat, glove and baseball, they will not give you a second look. Sounds funny, but this is the way it works. Bat alone, could raise suspicion, bat, glove and ball together implies a game of baseball.

Carriage of a baseball bat per se is not illegal because it is not a deadly weapon.
