A Few of The 2005 Bush Task Force Recommendations

The recommendations of the Task Force fall into two broad categories
that correspondwith the imperative to build a safer and more prosperous
continent. The Task Force also proposes reforms and institutions within
each of the three governments to promote progress in these areas. The
Task Force has framed its recommendations into shorter-term measures
that should be pursued now, and long-term steps to be implemented
by 2010.
Making North America Safer

Security
The threat of international terrorismoriginates for the most part outside
North America. Our external borders are a critical line of defense against this threat.Any weakness in controlling access to NorthAmerica from abroad reduces the security of the continent as a whole and exacerbates the pressure to intensify controls on intracontinental movement and traffic, which increases the transaction costs associated with trade and travel within North America.
September 11 highlighted the need for new approaches to border management. In December 2001, Canada and the United States signed the Smart Border Declaration and an associated 30-point Action Plan to secure border infrastructure, facilitate the secure movement of people
and goods, and share information. A similar accord, the United States-Mexico Border Partnership Agreement, and its 22-point Action Plan, Building a North American Community
were signed in March 2002. Both agreements included measures to facilitate faster border crossings for pre-approved travelers, develop and promote systems to identify dangerous people and goods, relieve congestion at borders, and revitalize cross-border cooperation mechanisms
and information sharing. The three leaders pledged additional measures at their March 2005 summit meeting.
The defense of North America must also consist of a more intense level of cooperation among security personnel of the three countries, both within North America and beyond the physical boundaries of the continent. The Container Security Initiative, for example, launched by the United States in the wake of 9/11, involves the use of intelligence, analysis, and inspection of containers not at the border but at a growing number of overseas ports from which goods are shipped. The ultimate goal is to provide screening of all containers destined for any port in North America, so that once unloaded from ships, containers may cross land borders within the region without the need for further inspections

This is part of a plan that was laid out long ago known as globalization. It's happening in Europe and many other continents as well. Long range, it will eventually allow the United Nations to become our 'guiding light'. I understand the need for the U.S. to be competitive and purchase products competitively, but frankly, I'm not fond of many things that I see happening.

I believe in capitalism, but I don't believe in allowing huge monopolies to evolve that drive out small business and doesn't allow others to compete. That is what creates fascism which represents danger because it allows a handful of people to get into complete control of everything on a worldwide basis.

As every day passes, I see more and more freedoms taken away from us and more power handed over to the wrong hands. I don't like the direction that we're headed.

On one hand, we have conglomerate monopolies and on the other we have those who want bigger government and more dependency. Believe it or not, the two don't and can't work nor coincide with each other. Somewhere, some how, there has to be a happy medium because at present time, there appears not to be a common denominator.

We have many dangers that we're facing that have been in the planning for decades, not just since 9/11. Trouble for all of us is lurking and I can only hope that we as voters, make the right decisions at the polls. It's the only chance we have.

Did I mention voting those out of office who are so ingrained with special interest and big business that we no longer mean anything, and enacting term limits? That is a must!

There will be no security or prosperity for us.Not good for anyone but Mexico and China. Our country gets cut down the middle and borders are erased. Hand picked people make the laws instead of elected officials. Rapist, murderers and theives will be impossible to catch.China owns most of the ports in Mexico and US. They will not have to pay import fees, so they will make even more money sending their crap here. Amendment 413 in defeated amnesty bill gave Bush the authority to procede with the SPP, you didn't really think it was just about illegal aliens? Why do you think Calderon was so mad!

any one who supports this north American union is either stupid or they are Communist as all Zionist are, our forefathers fought and died so we would have a better place to live and be secure in our homes , and now we have some damned Idiots who want to give all of this away for what some of them call a small measure of perceived security, have you idiots ever been to a third world country? why would you want your neighbors to be subjected to a life like that even if you are in a higher position , these positions can topple at the whim of our gov, or in such a case as this some one in Mexico or some where else, so don't feel you are secure , even if so what about your children and grand children, don't be suckered into this B.S. as it is to dangerous and we very well could lose every thing that is dear to us ,

I support dedicated police, FBI, CIA, Homeland Security and New Scotland Yard/InterPol focused efforts aimed at securing American and allied country's borders and import/export trade transport veins and lines.

And I really can see progress in these massive areas....I'm genuinely impressed with the U.K.'s recent success in foiling the coordinated terrorist car bombing plan--supported by Al-Queada!!

The key to their success was INFORMATION SHARING AND TEAMWORK....something we Americans didn't do so well on. Certain high level law enforcement agencies wanted to hold out some hot information until it's release was prime for their personal career advancement...and look what happened on 9/11/01.

i'd like a union of All the Americas... i think it would solve alot of immigration problems and add to our collective power and resources. The tradition of strong democratic process here would add alot to our neighbors and we would kick *** if all the Americas could work together our resources as a whole are so much greater... and look to what we could do with Brasil given how nicely they've handled the oil problem with ethanol .

It's a horrible idea! Mexico is a third world country full of crime, an uneducated/unskilled populus and corruption beyond what we have in the US, and is way behind us in terms of their economy, industry and technology. If Mexicans were totally free to come and go to the US as they please, they'd all be up here. No one would want to live in that corrupt third world nation. Becoming the NAU, especially with Mexico, would be committing national suicide.
