I've got a child who's older than you, and I still watch anime and read manga sometimes. My daughter is going into 9th grade, and she reads and watches as well.
There are anime clubs at most colleges. Anime conventions are attended mostly by kids in high school and college. There are some younger kids there, but not many.
There is anime for young kids (shows like Cardcaptor Sakura and Pokemon come to mind), but there is also a lot of material aimed at older viewers (Death Note, Ghost in the Shell, etc.).
Being into anime a bit of a "nerdy" thing according to most folks... maybe that is what your brother is concerned about. But I say... so what? As long as you're not hurting others and aren't going against your parents' wishes, do whatever you enjoy.

I love reading and watching anime/manga!!! I'm in high school. It's really what series you read or watch. Some ARE meant for kids while others are more for teens. While some are even for the adult audience.
If you really like anime and manga, you shouldn't just drop it because someone told you that you should.

Manga/anime is not just for little kids. I know a few college age kids and even adults- my mother ;) - who still watch anime and read manga. Don't let people's opinions about certain things interfere with what you enjoy to do. There's no such thing as something being "just for little kids", fun is fun, no matter how old you are.

I guess your brother hasn't met a lot of anime fans who're older. In fact 5 yrs older than you and I'm still going to watch anime even if other people comment about it. The only thing matters whether I like it or not. Who cares if your brother says anime is good like any other genre of shows. I'm not your age but there's definitely a lot of anime fans who're the same age as you I'm sure.

LOL!!! Dude I'm already second year college and I still love it. You'd be surprised on how many people who are waaaay older than you are that LOVE anime!
Though it is true that there are anime made for kids, a lot of anime nowadays are really focused towards a teen and occassionally adult audience!
Your brother needs to open that little box he calls his mind and see that he needs to think twice about judging other people's interests.
If he still doesn't listen to you (or worse does things to piss you off), try sneaking a hentai dvd or a doujinshi in his room and maybe that'll shut him up.

I'm a freshman and read a good 20+ different series of manga, and watch/have watched about the same amount of different animes. They have somethin' for everyone, even people who are completely grown up.

That is not true. I am a girl. I am 15 years old and im going to the 12th grade. I still read and watch anime because I love it. If you really love something dont give it up. My boyfreind thought that me watching and loving anime all the time was immature. But its just part of me.I love it so i watch it. It is something i do that makes me happy. Enjoy life. life is too short. If you love anime and want to continue watching it, in my opinion i think you should. But thats just my opinion. The rest is up to you

Well, some anime is for kids, but not all. In fact, there is some anime that is specifically for teens, and even adults. It is possible that what you are watching is for little kids, but anime in general is for everyone.
I'm a senior in high school, and I just got into it like 3 years ago.

I'm going into 7th grade! ^_^
Anime has no age limit, you can watch it at any age! Just never over do it! Then that's a problem. Consider me 18 people because I have a bunch of people behind me that agree with me! They range between 6th grade and 9th grade! ^_^ Well, hope that helps! ^_^
