Wow, I forgat this part of folklore. Someone has to tell the tales. I usually read them, or watch TV - wow - I'm embarrassed I forgat the storytellers...

Our modern heroic myths come from comic books and other media. Look at the success of X-Files, Buffy, Xena, and other shows. Superman is our American Hercules in some ways. We're always inventing new myths and legends!

What the USA needs is more story tellers and audiences that will support them. The Myths, Legends, and tales are still available, but there are few that can afford to tell them in competition with the boob-tube. Without story tellers they will all die, or be scrambled into a 47 minute television show.
