Will he go play for an American League team as a DH and pad his numbers? He strikes me as an egomaniac and I personally think he could play on at least a couple more years to increase his homerun total above 800 to prolong his record as long as possible.

No. I think if he doesn't retire this year, he will not be back with the Giants. I don't think it's a secret that the Giants signed a 1-year contract with him just to put asses in seats - they are a terrible team (albeit with good pitching) and won't sell out another game this season. He's a liability on the field now - he doesn't hustle in left or on the basepaths. If he does play next year, I would guess it would be as a DH for some American League team with lots of cash, i.e. the Angels. I could see that if his home is in the Bay, maybe he might want to play a season for the A's.

Bonds was indicted by a grand jury and it will happen in September. If that goes bad, he will definately retire.

I think Bonds will retire anyway becasue he's selfish and only wanted to finish beating the record in San Francisco, the only place crazy enough to glorify somebody like him. The Giants are only keeping him to squeeze the last bit of attendance he generates when he comes up to bat.

I have heard talks of a trade at the end of the year to an AL team but most likely will not go throught the giant will ont give up there number one history power hitter unless the Yanks offer compensation which they have been known to do.

i think this year will defiently be his last year in San Fran. he will continue to play though. he wants everything that his godfather has and willie has 3000 hits and barry is around 90 left to go, which he defiently won't reach this year but should be able next year if he is a dh for lets say the rangers, or maybe the mariners.

if this isnt his last year then i think next year will be. he has soo much negative attitude surrounding him AL teams may not want to pick him up and he is inconsistent and can go a month without a homerun or many hits

I'm a big Barry Bonds fan but i'm pretty sure this is last year in his career. If he does play next year that will be his last year and it might not be with San Francisco.

He probably will. I think the Giants are going to want to be done with him and his zoo after he breaks the record. He's said that he wants to keep playing but I don't think he's going to hit 800.

YES!Peter Magowen keeps saying it's his last year, but I doubt it isn't.I thnk he should retire in 2-3 years and just become a bench coach for the Giants.Or a Designated Hitter.
