One conversion factor you should commit to memory is 60 mph = 88 fps.

60 mph equals 88 feet per second. Divide 30 by 1.6 to get the feet per second and set up a ratio.

Its a conversion thing...

(300 feet/ 1 sec)*(1 mile/5280 feet)*(60 sec/1 minute)*(60 minutes/1 hour)

Write it out like fractions, first number on top; notice how the units cancel? You'll be left with miles per hour.

you need to now how many feets he could do in an hour so if he does 30 feet in 1.6 sec, how many feet he does in 3600 (30x3600)/1.6 = 67500 feet per hour 67500/5280= 12.78 mi/h

fps = feet per second

3 feet to the yard, so divide by 3 (to get yards per second)

1760 yards to the mile, so divide by 1760 (to get miles per second)

60*60 = 3600 seconds per hour, so multiply by 3600 (to get miles per hour).

In all, it's (3600*300/3)/1760 mph. The final calculation is left to the reader as an exercise ;-)
