I have a 70's split level with a basement, they added natural gas later and wrapped godawful ugly steel pipes around the house to run gas to the HWH, deck BBQ, forced air heat, and gas cooktop in the kitchen. Is there a way to run these through the attic, walls or something, and is it mass expensive, and who would I call? Thank-you!

The awful ugly pipes are probably ugly because they have
rusted and need a paint job. Black pipe must be used on gas
lines. gas has a chemical reaction which causes the
galvanizing to flake off and plug your burners.
Gas lines can not be run through the attic because of the
heat. Call a licensed plumber to rerout the gas lines a better
way through the basement, and expect to pay. <}:-})

The lines were run above ground because code states any underground steel gas lines need to be welded. That would be more expensive than running them exposed. You need to find a plumber. Heat in the attic will not be a factor.

u can try to just rerun the pipes with the updated pipes for gasline......u can try wardflex or gastite...both about the same stuff its a corrugated stainless steel pipe that come on a roll and is flexible but u cannot bury it......u could run it thru attics and walls though and thru the basement....just make sure that if YOU try to run it urself then make sure u have someone licensed in gas to size the line for u to make sure you will have to right volume u need going to all ur fixtures...

not a good idea, if you get a leak your house will fill with gas. secondly, paint the pipes the same colour as your house and you will know no different. we are talking big bucks to do what you want to do, not worth it.
