So you mislead everyone by changing the definitions. Change the key definitions around in time for the big september report. Now they will look like all the lights are on. Change how you count the bodies and voila lower body counts.

I think this quote answers your question perfectly.
"If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it. The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth is the greatest enemy of the State."
-- Joseph Goebbels, German Minister of Propaganda, 1933-1945

Because the whole shibbolith is steeped in lies from start to never-end.

'Terrorism' is the new replacement for religion, it has been intentionally fostered and encouraged since the end of WW II, for the benefit of international super-capital. It is the perfect solution to the profit and growth paradox, just keep making stuff, generating huge profits and send it out to be destroyed as quickly as possible ....... then make more stuff and repeat until the end of time.

The great payoff for the Military Industrial Complex is that munitions manufacturers are notorious for charging exhorbitant fees for producing very dubious materials, as long as these goods get rendered into dust and shrapnel as quickly as possible no-one is around to notice that things didn't perform according to spec.

Wake up, people, they're doing it to you again. And most of you keep lapping up their propaganda and even telling each other that you are idiots if you happen to notice the lies.

Anyone else remember Hans Christian Andersen's "The King's New Clothes" ?

Bush and his pack of jackals, and, more importantly, the sinister creatures behind them, are a perfect match for the 'swindlers', and the media, like Fox and CNN, just promulgate their lies for them.

These people don't care about the 'war', they don't care about the hundreds of thousands of innocent Iraqi and Afghani lives they have laid waste to, they don't care about the thousands of their own young people that they have sent out to die frightful deaths in foreign and strange lands, and most of all they don't give a damn about the American people, the same people were supposed to have elected them and yet didn't, and the same people that they are supposed to represent, yet don't.

Lulu Belle, the first answerer is quite right, these people do think that the American people are idiots, that is what their entire house of cards is built on.

Who does care ?

I do, do you ?

Left side does not want to hear any good news from Iraq, that is why they okay the surge and would wait until September for reports from Iraq. Now with the surge just getting off the ground and everything looking good, now the Lefties want to suddenly bring them home now. This good report, lefties do not like, as it has been their main bashing tactic. Lefties apparently likes more body count of our troops, since they are not getting that anymore, now they are upset. Afterall, winning is not what the left is about, and good news from Iraq worries them, proves they are wrong the way they have handled all the bashing, they like dead bodies of our troops, helps them get elected.... they think. But Americans have long memories, we want forget what libs/dems have done and said.

Because Bush is afraid of looking like a failure. So he keeps changing the rules--in a blind attempt to make things appear more rosy than what's reality on the ground.

A report today showed that the Iraqi power grid is near collapse--and the city of Baghdad has no water.

Gee, I wonder if Bush will leave this out next month?

My guess would be: YES.

If everyone believed everything the media said, which apparently you do, everyone would be hidden in their basements waiting for the world to end. I'm not going
to say anything either way about the war. What I'm trying to say is that you rely on your news papers and TV too much, so unless you know the exact facts you shouldn't judge people based on what the media says.

If you were committing serious crimes, robbing people, causing untold tragedies and totally screwing everyone you possibly could, would you tell the truth? The Bush administration is the most secretive, dishonest, deadly, UnAmerican, treasonous and criminal administrations in American history. He and his cronies make Nixon look like a saint and J. Edgar Hoover like a libertarian.

The Bush administration has done more damage to this great nation than our enemies could have dreamed of doing themselves. His misguided and gluttonous policies have even killed more Americans than the terrorists of 9/11. Thank God his term is almost over.

Let's hope the next administration does not continue his policies and practices, and can make significant progress in repairing the devastation he has caused to our great nation and to the world.

What do you expect from a country in were less than 50% of the population prefer to see TV instead of going to vote on the election day.
The majority of the people doesn't care is Bush lie.

Bush lies about everything. Why should this be any different. You can tell when he is lying because he has that silly, lopsided smirk on his face, which is as if to say "I am the only one who understands anything and the rest of you are just too stupid to get it."

To put this in better perspective I'd be willing to bet that the amount of electricty generated in all of Iraq over the course of the past year is less than what ConEdison generates in New York City in a single day.

You're an idiot... the marxist media (including your source, the LA Times) hates Bush and anything that is not pure liberalism. Ironically, real conservatives disdain Bush because of his liberal policies, which makes it interesting to see such seething hatred of him from you liberal idiots as well. He's done more for socialized medicine, increasing government, and illegal immigrants than you're pathetic liberal party could have done in decades - why do you hate him so? He's a liberal. And just to touch this off with one last comment on you; you're an idiot.

What are you talking about? The war in Iraq is going really well. We found weopons of mass distruction, captured every terrorist and made peace. I heard this on Fox news which is way more accurate than the L.A. Times.
