Today my rearview mirror popped off with a thunk. There is nothing left on the window but some old glue. This is a 1979 cadillac. I am assuming there is a special glue to put it back on, what should I look for?

Go to any parts store, even a Wal Mart and ask the guy in charge of the auto accessory department and ask what you just asked here and you will find the special glue to put it back on. The same thing happened to me in my 80 chevy more than once, I just glued it back. Good luck!

Glass glue??

Seriously, just go to a auto glass place and tell them what happened. Take the metal piece in with you. They should be happy to just shoot some glue on it and let you put it on the window yourself.

The last time that happened to me on a Chevy, the mechanic just gave me a tube of glue that was about a fourth full.

Araldite will do the job, or model glue will do it too.
Make sure you clean off the old glue first.
