That's a hard question to answer.
Obviously intially there will be alot of interest in Beckham and increased curiousity towards soccer.
To be honest though, I don't think that the states will ever have a following for soccer like in Europe.
Pele didn't help to make soccer into a hugely popular sport, and I don't think Beckham can do this either.
But then again, who knows?

Nothing, because in the US we don't like soccer period, i don't think bring 10 of the best players in the world will help at all. Soccer is just not the sport peoples gravitate to. Soccer might be big else where but not here, the other soccer here rule and it's called football.

No it will not affect anything, i don't see the point in trying to make soccer popular in the US. You can not force feed a sport to a culture, there either going to like it or not, bringing great players over will not make a difference.
I hate when people try to convince another person how great soccer is, you either love it or you don't, The USA has known about soccer since the beginning and its not caught on in the USA so what makes you think that a few great players going to the USA is going to change anything...
Every sport can be dissected to make it look stupid or boring or whatever...
Just watch what ever sport you like and ENJOY...

The impact has been minimal, since he doesn't play due to injuries. It seems like a desperate move for a league that is seeking a pop culture identity in America. Soccer is a great participation sport for youth, but those numbers have never translated into making a pro league successful.

The biggest change will be in the stands with the fan base. It will now include celebrities the likes of the Beckhams.
There will also be a bigger interest in soccer because of the Beckhams.
Oh, yeah, and a lot of people in the stands will be trying to look like the Beckhams.
Might be a win win

He will teach you (eventually) that an ordinary guy from the UK with limited intelligence can free you of large quantities of cash by playing football reasonably well, while you continue to languise in the lower divisions.

Ooh sorry did I say Football? Obviously I meant Soccer as you like to call it.
