Do you know that Peterborough Council now have the authority to decide what you wear around town while out shopping? Today my husband and I were out shopping, just food shopping and we were approached by two street wardens who said that they had been monitoring my husband during our shopping trip (we went to Asda and Poundland that is all) and told us that the tee-shirt he was wearing was not acceptable due to the wording on the front which might have been misconstrued as offensive and likely to incite a riot!
Today my husband was warned that if he was spotted in town wearing the offending tee-shirt again he would be liable to an £80 on the spot fine! We had not been drinking, we were not exhibiting rowdy behaviour, which is more than can be said of the football supporters who were on their way to a match this afternoon.
OFFENDING SLOGAN: Don't p1ss me off - I am running out of places to hide the bodies!
To all who read this please leave feedback is this offensive?

Teeshirt was purchased in California. Not seen any on sale in UK. We think it is the hiding the bodies bit they are objecting too not the word P1ss.

It is not the street wardens who issue the fines it is the police they will get involved. The street wardens are only acting under the instruction of the CCTV operators. Sorry I did not make that clearer.

Sounds like England is moving faster than I thought towards Muslim laws.

The slogan can only be regarded as offensive if there have been serial killings in Peterborough. You were not attacking anyone for attributes such as skin tone, gender, religion or sexual orientation so who is there to be offended but street wardens.
The trouble is they carry no identifying marks so you cannot take their number and query thier opinion with their superiors.
But check with your Citizen Advice Bureau on what authority they can issue such a fine.

It is not political correctness, it is stupidity.

You can be charged for wearing clothes that are indecent, nor not wearing them as the naked rambler has found out. And you can be fined if you are wearing clothing that is offensive. But I am sure that if you contested this (though it might cost you more than just paying the fine) you would get away with it.

Contact Liberty, they are involved in protecting civil rights in the UK and will be able to give you more information. I am sure that your husband is in the right, and Peterborough council is acting beyond the intent of the law.

It seems that Political Correctness has gone mad

How can they say that one can not wear , a tee shirt , just because of what is on it

No doubt this tee shirt , was purchased from a store , write to the Council and ask them for there reasons , informing that if it were illegal to wear such an item , then why is it , that it's not illegal to purchase

Councils think they have power , but as like the Govenment , they seem to think they can do as they please. Untill they come to the terms that they are trying to push the same people around , that not only pay them , but in fact hold all the power as to what they do , Yes US the public

Where can I buy the tee shirt , that caused all this , as I whould love to see if it piss's off my Council

Seems to me that Big Brother has finally reached the ludicrous. I suspect that you and your husband are not in the 16 - 24 age group, I think this because they would have told these jobsworths to p1ss off. Once upon a time we would have laughed at things like your slogan now we are not allowed to think for our selves and make decisions on these matters. I suspect that in time any slogans against the government or Brussels will also become illegal.

It had to happen. It's the UK.gov nanny state trying to protect us from horrid people and their even worse words. How dare someone wear a T-shirt with rude words.

Seems to me it is an attack upon free speech to ban the wearing of certain messages on T-shirts. Are they going to ban FCUK from certain T-shirts?

The people of Peterborough and have a very simple and easy way to defeat this problem. Everyone should just turn up next week wearing a T-shirt with the message DOWN WITH PETERBOROUGH COUNCIL. Or some other more vulgar worded message, which names the person responsible for this new bye-law banning free speech in Peterborough.

Next week I want to see a mass demonstration by the people of Peterborough, all wearing T-shirts FREE SPEECH BANNED IN PETERBOROUGH while all wearing white gags. Just make sure there are plenty of media on hand to record the even and try and get in onto the 5pm nooze!

I don' t live in Britain but I would say "NO" by American standards.

Your husband's T-Shirt actually reads like political speech to me, and I hope some of your Muslims "doctors" get to read it.

Hey, that's an idea . . . have a screen printer make you some shirts saying all that in Arabic, and put the picture of a pig eating something which is being tossed into a pig wallow.

Now were getting creative and funny.

I agree with the council people should not walk around with offensive slogans on display whether it is on clothing or a banner makes no difference. It is time that this sort of anti-social attitude was clamped down on, it just shows how the morals of this great nation have slipped to such a depth that it is deemed amusing to have sexually explicit or vulgar slogans on clothing in open display in front of children and innocents.
Good on Peterborough Council hopefully they will start a trend that goes nationwide.

Is it specifically the word p1ss that they are objecting to? I've seen similar shirts here, in the states, and have never thought twice about it.
An interesting experiment would be to have a similar shirt made up that says"don't make me mad", everything else would be the same. Have your husband wear it around and see what the T-shirt police say.

Do you Read ''The Bible''? The King James Bible
Kings 1 chapter 21 verse 21.

God (said this, Nobody else) ''Behold I will bring evil on upon thee and will take away thy posterity (wait for it) and will cut off from Ahab him that p!sseth against the wall and him that is shut up and left in Israel.

The Bible uses the word p!ss in several books of the Bible, in the 16th and 17th century it was a word used to state you were going for a p!ss.
Lets face it is never used nowadays is it? who would know that if you said ''I'm going for a p!ss'' it meant you were going for a p!ss?

Guess what, after 400 years the PC brigade recently changed this.

Are you telling me that if God came to Peterborough' the Council would prosecute God for swearing.

You Know what? unfortunately, I think the Council would.

I'm on your side 100%

When they installed CCTV cameras, they said it would cut crime. That hasn't happened as dramatically as they said it would. In reality, they are spy cameras used to peek into our lives. Invasion of privacy. Hitler would use these things if he was alive today. I guess Hitler really did win the war. Arguably the two most powerful countries (the US and UK) are Fascist States now. Oh, I'm an American living in the UK.
