To the moron using "logic and reasoning" to invalidate helmets: Your skull is a hard object with no give. The pavement is a hard object with no give. Even a low speed impact between the two will thus be a "sudden impact" which can cause permanent injury or death. The helmet absorbs some of this impact.
Consider a common accident, where you are thrown over the hood of a car that just pulled in front of you. Now suppose that somehow you miraculously manage to not land on your face. Maybe you even land on your feet... great. Until you realize that no matter how hard you try, you can't run at 35mph - and a split second later you will notice that your face is about to smack the asphalt. If you aren't wearing a helmet, that might be the last thing you notice. A good full face helmet WILL protect your "brain from moving inside your skull," in this instance, because it has give to it, and may even break during impact, as it is designed to do. Yeah, you are wearing your gloves, your *edit*leather chaps, and your *edit* leather vest *edit*. Great. After your brain-dead body slides to a stop, they can use you for skin grafts, too. Yep, you are going to have plenty of that edema stuff, Einstein.
"I'd rather be dead than be a vegetable." Well, not wearing a helmet will definitely increase your odds of becoming a vegetable. You will be the one with the brain damage and nice perfect organs.
**response to puttndutchman: I am not advocating mandatory helmet laws. I, for one, would love to take the occasional spin with just a pair of shades - or at least know that I could if I chose. If you choose not to wear a helmet, I don't care in the least. But your reasoning is laughable and idiotic. If you are really on a political crusade to abolish helmet laws and increase our freedoms, then do us all a favor and stop opening your mouth. Yeah, you run real hard, do ya? Well, we are the both of us on Yahoo Answers on Saturday night. :(
Excuse me for being testy. I didn't get any last night, either. I apologize for the personal attack and for putting words into your mouth. And no, I don't want to meet up with strange men I met on the internet.

OK let me get this straight. The message is keep riding, but ride safe!! Where is the legal speed limit 120 mph? Oh wait! We have all the protective gear including a helmet, WE ARE INVINCIBLE!!! And for the new generation of riders; all helmets are tested for an impact of 13 mph, and the main cause for brain injury is swelling of the brain which is caused by sudden impact of the brain moving inside and against the skull. A helmet doesn't prevent that.
Ride safe? In my opinion it has to do with keeping alert, assuming nothing when it come to other drivers, drive defensively and use common sense when you turn her loose.
Oh and for the record I don't ride a donorcycle. I have a card on the back of my license which states everything I've got is going with me. You infringe on my personal rights and make me wear this helmet, you won't benefit from it. Should have thought of sclerosis of the liver and kidney failure before you started drinking and slammin'.
And I apologize to all if my answers seem a little pissy of late...didn't get any last night!

Its not so much the bike its the rider any 900 cc and 1 liter bike would be ideal thought, 150+ hp in 390 lb bike. A moped without a helmet would be good too as most of the organs would be intact.

Most fatal accidents occur in intersections at speeds of less than 50 mph. A zx14 is just as lethal as a honda wave in such a situation.

I think ya could figure any motorcycle or bicycle for that matter could make the list ... really though bein' an organ donor is a good idea .. and not just if you ride .. but talk to your loved ones and tell them your wishes just in case somethin' terrible happens. I figure if somethin' happens to me .. maybe I can help someone one last time and give them another chance at life! I think of it as me bein' able ta live on through them! ; )

Sorry guys, I understand your question, but just because a bike can go 179MPH in .002 seconds, does not mean all riders do. Yes I to have seen those nut balls weaving though traffic, but let them go because they will get theirs in time.
Ride Alert.
