It's 4:30 p.m. in south california (right by LA) and the sky and sun is RED! When you I stepped outside there was a reddish/ orange glow on my face, and the whole backyard/ pool-side also had a reddish tint. I looked down, and my shadow was an almost translucent blue! So bizzarre!

I looked up and there was a giant brownish red cloud in front of the sun (that's why everything's tinted) but other than that the sky is a clear blue. Why is that? I don't think it's pollution because I've never seen it in my life, and I've been to much more polluted places that this. Is it some weird gas?

It's not a sunset; the sun is high in the sky. It's 4:30, summer, and the sun doesn't set until 8:00.

This is smoke and ash from the Zaca fire that is burning behind Santa Barbara. This fire has been burning for over one month and exploded yesterday (Friday) and sent up a tremendous header of smoke and ash. This plume of smoke and ash can be seen on satellite photos. Evacuations have been ordered for some areas. This fire is at 40,000 acres and growing expected containment is Sept 7. It is not something that the liberals would have you believe is related to global warming.

I live in Studio City, CA that's also right next to LA I see exactly what you mean, its 6:40ish when I'm writing this, this is being caused because of the ash and smoke from the wild fire in Santa Barbara that started rather violently yesterday and brought up a huge amount of smoke and ash I heard from the Internet that this tremendous amount of ash can be seen from satellite images! Last time we had a fire in the area it made a really bizarre sky. The heavy pollution and ash from the fire does weird things to the sun light and its effects on the sky!

sincerely

I assume that there was some kind of odd particle that was in that cloud... Maybe it was from an event like a piece of land falling in or something like that. It's not a solar eclipse, if other people tell you that- that would be the moon in front of the sun, folks.

Hello! It is probably smoke. You have had a lot of bush fires in California. It will be dust particles increasing the sun's light, and casting that red color. It happens a lot in Australia.

Most likely from the common forest fires in the dry west

also big lulz at Roscoe's "chemtrails" from jets

its water vapor from the plane's engine not chemicals trying to thin out the world population, its common sense.

It's fire season now. What your experiencing is the sunlight filtered through a cloud of smoke from a forest fire.

That is wierd. These are the signs of the times. the time is nearing when our natural systems will be out of sync. Who knows what our weather will be like in the coming years.
Our earth is undergoing many changes, this may be one of them. A blue shadow? wow!

Or it could be the chemical trails that jets have been leaving behind. Who really knows what stuff is in them that reflect light in different ways.
