This area is associated with the original Route 66.
Also have an old stagecoach stop building(Pony Express) which has been refurbished and an archaeological dig going on, beside the building.
Even though, not originally from the area, the history is intensely interesting.
This part of the state of Missouri was for the Confederacy. Missouri was a divided state during the Civil War.

Just outside the village there used to be a small castle (no ruins left) which some French Duke was held prisoner in the 100 years war. Also there is a Yew tree in the churchyard, which had a cannon ball jammed between a couple of branches, supposedly fired in anger during the roundhead/cavaliers conflict.
That is the lot.

Eastbourne has a long history just that is not particularly interesting [unless you are a local historian]. Nothing major ever happened here.
The surrounding area is 1066 country and a long and colourful smuggling history and then of course there is Brighton with its connection to the Prince Regent and Haut Ton.

A little bit. George Washington marched through my town during the Revolutionary War, and every street in my town is named after something in the Revolutionary War. I live in a town in New York.
