CLIFF ALL THE WAY...just listen to Orion(master of puppets 1986) or The call of ktulu(ride the lightning 1984) or ANY metallica song before he died...the bass lines are the best there is and he was VERY younge and that talented...there wont be another like Burton EVER...RIP man

Of those 3, I'd probably say Flea. But who knows how good Burton would be today if he was still alive, he was amazing back then and would have just gotten better. But why isn't Les Claypool and John Paul Jones on the list?

oh, thats a tough question, gene simmons is a great classic rock bassist, cliff burtons a great metal bassist, and flea is a great funk, punk, soul, pop, rock, bassist....well flea is certainly the most versatile
