I've never understood the whole logic of fighting them over there so we don't have to fight them here.

We've started Homeland Security, spent billions to fund the war on terror, got the wiretaps going (legal and illegal), plus billions more being used to fund the military for the war on terror.

If we get attacked again, then it's going to mean a few things: that BushFraud nor any president, its administrations or any officials can protect us and that we should bring the military home and spend the money securing our borders.

What do you think?

There is no logic to that kind of thinking. My goodness terrorists don't need a map to figure out how to get here. Do we keep fighting evil over there for a 1000 years or do we just tell evil to stay out of our country and enforce the rules. Plain and simple.

I guess we're so stupid they can lie to our face. I never thought of that, I bought it. I think the best offense is a sane message. There must be a million things we could do. I can't believe we don't have an inspirational message to bring people together. India is doing better, it looks like, for taking an ethical leadership position. What happened to Radio Free America and all that. We have the worst image. All the advertising expertise and we can't even get a better rap. We need a dialog with the world, satellite forums for discussion on world issues and citizen involvement in them. Lordy. PBS sounds more like Political BS than anything. How about some citizen channels where we can do what we want instead of being co-opted. And how can a vote count without more access to what we need to know, unfiltered and more opinions. You can't fight terrorism on one front, their in 60 countries, by one report.

First - Crewchief1949 needs to do a little better research before he makes statements like more time has passed between 9/11 and now than the first attack and 9/11.The first attack was in 1993. 2001-1993 is 8 years. We have to get through 2009 to even equal the time between the first and second.

Second - Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11 or the war on terror. We let Ben Ladin, who helped plan the 9/11 attack, go free when we pulled our troops out of Afghanistan to go after Saddam. We have turned Iraq into the poster child for terrorist recruiters.

Third - the terrorist will come back and hit us again someday. And they are wiling to wait years to do so. We will not be able to stop them. They only have to get it right once - we have to get it right every time forever to prevent them. Sooner or later we will miss a plot and they will succeed.

Fourth - Being vulnerable to attack from fanatic groups is the price we must be willing to risk paying if we want the free and open society that we cherish.

PS: And sweet_lil_cricket - thank you for those psychotic ravings of the Nazi wing of the republican party. And brought to you by those non existent weapons of mass destruction.

I agree with the coming home and securing the borders, but I think it is important to fight them over there. Who knows, maybe this won't work, but at least we tried to fight them. It will serve as an example of history. I'm not saying human lives are test dummies to see what will happen, but we do at least have to try our hardest over there and hope for the best. I think we did, but it just seems like we're in a place we can't win.

yes your right.
They aren't cats, they can't just follow us home like they want us to believe. I have also heard that the media purposely potrays certain clips etc while talking about the war to keep americans in fear of "terrorists"

You know its bs. But most Americans are brainwashed sheep who say "that could never happen" and would never question the government or the CFR or the NAU because they are stupid.

oil!!!!! shifted focus from Afghanistan to Iraq and let osama slip through our fingers. AL-qaeda has regrouped because Bush and his War admin wanted oil instead of a terrorist, seems perfectly normal for Corporate America

More time has passed between 9/11 and now than passed between the first attempt on the wtc and 9/11. I think something has gone right. To think like you are is to wait on disaster no matter how long it takes to happen and then say "see I told you so" Why not say thank you to those who have given the ultimate and to those now over there so more time can pass without an attack and live life to its fullest.

...the premise is this... It's better to "scrap-it-up" in "their" yard then in "ours"... However, in "time"..."they" will bring the fray to our yard and we'll get-bent and angry and all that sort of stuff and take the brouhaha back to their yard... last man standing wins ! (let's keep the "disturbance" in their yard, my lawn wouldn't look good with rubble and all that crap in it and besides, it would just muck up the lawn-mower and frighten all the "illegals" away who I pay to cut it, don't you think?)
