St. Albert, the oldest and largest community in the north region, offers history buffs, gardening, and shopping enthusiasts, many wonderful places to explore.

Start your adventure in the City of Leduc and the Leduc Grain Elevator. This Provincial Historic Resource has a wonderful collection of wooden grain elevators. See how grain was stored and separated back in the early days and relive the memories of our pioneers on the farm.

Only a few minutes south of Leduc is The Saskatoon Ranch – enjoy the distinctive flavours of Alberta’s native Saskatoon berry and try the many jams, jellies and preserves this farm has to offer – you can even purchase a Saskatoon tree for your own yard!

Visit our flock of sheep during the summer and take a step back in time at the Fort Saskatchewan Museum and Historic Site. Or if you enjoy boating you can slide your canoe or powerboat into the North Saskatchewan River at Red Coat Landing or Strachan’s Landing Dock – only two of a handful of boat launches in the capital region.

Town of Mundare, with a visit to the Basilian Fathers Museum & Grotto, and the world's largest sausage. Travel north on Highway 855 to the Village of Andrew (note the turnoff to Whitford Creek Wetland Preserve) and enjoy the world's largest mallard and an interpretive tour of the historic grain elevator. Travelling west on Highway 45, you will reach the Skaro Shrine, (annual pilgrimage on August 14 and 15) at the junction with Highway 831. Continue on Highway 45 to the Town of Bruderheim and visit the old Walker School which serves as a visitor information centre.

Sturgeon County:
Get acquainted with the Country Soul Stroll – www.countrysoulstroll.ca – a self-guided driving tour where you can learn more about country culture up close and personal!
