Transfering to an UC from another 4-year college is a bit more difficult than from a community college because the UCs discourage transfers from other 4-year institutions. If you plan to move, it may be better to move now to California and attend a community college here. You will have a better chance of transfering successfully to UCLA and/or Irvine.
Fall 2006
UCLA community college transfer rate: 44.8%, four-year college/other transfer rate: 19.5%
Irvine community college transfer rate: 74.4%, four-year college/other transfer rate: 50.4%

This depends on the university and the state college. In general, it is difficult to transfer upward in quality from one 4-year school to another, so since you are talking about very good universities here, if the university is really strong, do that. Otherwise, you might be better off spending two years at a community college before transferring.

From my personally experince I was also accepted to both however it wasn't my first choice I wanted (UCD but I went to state instead because of financial reasons). UCLA has risen its bar to get into and the acceptance rate is pretty low. Its a lot easier to get into UCLA and UCI through a community college through a transfer agreement because of the GE standards are the same then 4 yr to a 4yr institution. Also its a better idea to take classes at a JC because its a lot cheaper then going to a 4 yr Uni. So my suggestion is go to a JC and transfer because of the financial and relatively easiness advantages if your 100% certain that you want to transfer to either of the 2 colleges. Good Luck.

the coolest element is which you haven't any longer stated a number of the states with substantial budget problems, all of that are possibly to be reducing on the kind of scholars they settle for, which might make it extra durable for out-of-state AND pass scholars. those are all faculties which DO take a reasonable kind of pass scholars, and all take some out-of-state scholars. The perplexing element is that everybody of those faculties are between the main effectual of their states. by ability of calling the present college a "Tier 4" college, it means that its standards are not very severe. A 4.0 would desire to probably be meaningless (the student would desire to be remarkable, or he would desire to be under the faculties' to which he desires to pass's standards. subsequently, the venture for this student would be as an occasion that he would desire to accomplish besides on the out-of-state faculties as he did at his present day college. that would mean engaging in national competitions, doing a sprint style of summer season analyze software at a extra appropriate college, or getting references from somebody undemanding and respected by ability of those on the extra appropriate faculties. of course, if the student has completed something impressive (previous basically getting good grades) at his present day college, that would desire to help. and that i does no longer be exceptionally stunned to ascertain those faculties check out the student's SAT rankings, no longer as formally as they'd for an incoming freshman, yet just to get a feeling of no remember if this individual, while entering college, had the comparable features as their different scholars.
