If you do not change it for a clean one every day then yes it is unhygenic. A handkerchief is better for the environment than what tissues are and they are more pratical.

I saw a thing on the news several years ago that the dirtiest thing in the kitchen (and many houses) was the dishcloth that some people keep hanging on their faucet.

This one is gross, but when we were kids we called them booger vaults!

White tissues are disposable and biodegradable- I prefer them.
