There is no blanket rule as such - that love or arranged marriages are better. It all depends on making the choice for a lifetime commitment (hopefully) with our eyes wide open and in awareness of at least some of the good and bad points in the person we are about to marry and having the courage to say no if you don't feel comfortable for good reasons. After ensuring that, it is important to have realistic expectations of our spouses. Even people who are crazy in love do fight and have differences. The trick is to love the person WITH their limitations and weaknesses, not to try to constantly change them and not to let small issues overwhelm and choke the love that brought you together in the first place. Patience, understanding and a lot of humor goes a long way. Having said all that, don't ever base a relationship on a typical couple you see in a movie/ serial. They are just highlighting the best aspect of love and not giving enough attetion/ advice on the real issues of life. Read books on psychology, communication - Men are from Mars...and such and make your own road map. Its fun once you get the issues worked out!

I think you are totally wrong. Normally, the majority of marriages are successful, at least in India. Differences and attritions exist in all kinds of relationships, including marriages, which have to be overcome. Success of a marriage depends on the compatibility of the spouses. Caste is irrelevant here, if it isn't considered the basis of compatibility by the partners.

It's about 50-50 right now. I feel like people are getting married for the wrong reasons. They don't really care or understand how much work it really is. I'm only 20 and I'll be married for 4 years on the 30th (I know it's weird) But I think some people really don't understand what they are in for. I want to think that people aren't this stupid but I know people jump into things without thinking. Hopefully we can teach our kids to really think about what they're doing and know how hard things can be even if you love someone and how much worse it is if you don't.

No marriage will be success full on its own. You should get along for years, maintaining attraction by love. It is difficult but possible if you want to make it success full.You should love your partner as she is, without trying to change her or both of you should not start finding fault with each other.

Normal marriages are sucessful, mine is. Whatever way you get maried, both of you have to work at your marriage and keep it alive, every day of your life. Communication, laughter, excitement, it grows stale because many take each other for granted or can not be bothered to work at their marriage, they just accept that they are married and get lazy in the knowledge that they dont have to try any more. But to make the marriage work, you DO have to keep trying.
