It has chlorine (bleach) in it that will kill him.

You can get drops that will take the chlorine out. It's cheap at pet stores.

Good luck

Yep! That's the best water for a fish. As long as you use chlorine drops OR let the water sit out in a pot or bucket 24 hours before you're going to change the water in the tank.

It would probably be okay.....for a while. But I strongly suggest Distilled water. My Betta Fish has so far lived for 2 years. I have been using distilled water. Or you can leave tap water out for 24 hours and you can use that too.

you can but use a water conditioner like stress coat.

Just for the record, chorine doesnt kill fish if there are small ammounts. While yes it can, as it affects the gills, but they can handle small amounts. Many large aquariums like discovery cove in FL, they use small ammounts of chlorine to kill and bacteria that people can bring when they swim with the fish.

But again, using a water conditioner like stress coat will eliminate the chlorine in tap water.

No the chlorine and other chemicals will kill your betta. I suggest going to any department store and buying bowl buddies which are little tablets that purify the tap water

you can't use tap water directly because of the cholrine. one way other then buying cholrine remover is to leave the water out for 24hrs. that way, all the chemicals would evaporate.
cholrine is actually deadly to fish because they would burn the mucus membrane on the gills. its similar how if u go into a swimming pool without goggles, your eyes would turn red.

As long as you use a water conditioner that removes the chlorine and chloramines, it's generally the best choice for your fish.

Even if you have a water filter you need to use chlorine remover drops.
The reason is because filters remove sediment, NOT chemicals.
