Well most Muslims (if not ALL) Muslims in the U.S. are very "liberal" (certainly in regards to the fanatics in various middle eastern countries), so I sense virtually NO threat from the American Muslim community. I'm more worried about the drunk drivers careening down the street as I try to cross it than terrorists blowing me up- yet it has crossed my mind about a suicide bomber on the bus I take to work in the morning, but it's not a fear of mine at all; we have too many guns in the U.S. in the hands of mentally deranged incompetants, whom I have WAY more fear of; I fear my fellow non-Muslim citizens and the spying of the FBI & Homeland Security more than I fear Muslims.

Affected by the threat of muslim extremism? I haven't been affected by it at all. I do believe most people have been affected by the government's reaction to that threat.
The inner party launches a few rockets, painted in eurasian or eastasian colors and markings, they land, explode, the wreckage is displayed, or perhaps a eurasian or eastasian "spy who slipped into oceania" is exposed and put on trial, and the inner party, for our own good, responds to the new threat.
That's how it works, isn't it?

It affects me every time I go to the airport, and I'm chosen for a "random" security search. I believe that the threat is real and out there, but I refuse to let it control every day of my life like the Bushies want me to.

Well, one day the sky was blue, and the sun was shining too, then I heard the news of terrorist in the sky, and on the ground. A combat zone brought home. All Americans were without a doubt called into the pool of soldiers sought. We came from all the land to give a helping hand, We saw what the terrorist did by sneaking in through the skies, now they are walking on our land and we shall face them as we can, when they see the whites of our eyes and hear our battle cries they will know who has been awakened from their sleep and they shall not again sleep to wake again and walk upon this land.

The so called threat posed by Muslim extremist has lead my government to begin to take away my rights and civil liberties, to spy on me and other citizens of this nation and send many fellow citizens to far away countries to die for thier oil and to expand the "empire" the current political regiem is trying to establish.
I am not afraid of the supposed threat.
I am afraid of my government.

What I see: I've been watching my countrymen turn into a herd of fearful sheep afraid to deal with the rest of the world, and trusting in a government that holds them all in contempt while profiting from their fear.

When you ask questions regarding race I personally think thats really mean becuase you are going to get responses that arent mature. Im a muslim myself and its not that you asked a question regarding Muslims the thing is it gets racist.
