There are old chestnuts like O, sole Mio, and bunches of Neapolitan songs.....check YouTube (Pavarotti, Domingo, etc...)
......and some of the Bellini songs are nice ...Pavarotti sang some at one time ...they have great style ...
then Luigi Denza has some fun stuff, including "Occhi turquini" which is one of my all-time favourites ...absolutely super old-fashioned: I wish I could sing it myself, but it is a man's song....
I really don't know what you mean by upbeat, but if the person to sing this music is a good tenor, say.....the Tenor Aria from "Der Rosenkavalier" is
too much !!!
